CANCELLED // Positive Spin: 3 Rides to Support the Fight Against ALS

At Cranked, we care.

We care about the industry, about the products we provide and about you, our customers.

As there is a great deal of uncertainty right now surrounding COVID-19 and as the health and safety of our customers is our top priority, it is with deep regret and disappointment that we have made the difficult decision to cancel our Positive Spin rides for ALS on Sunday March 22, 2020.

Cranked will be donating $2,535 (100%) of the funds raised to date to the ALS Society of Manitoba in honour of Corey McCracken, our friend and Fort Garry hockey dad who passed away from ALS in August 2019.

We want to thank you for your continued support of our fundraising efforts and our community. To thank those who purchased tickets, Limitless Cycle and Strength will be putting a free ride on your account for you to use to experience their amazing studio. Please create your Limitless account by going to https://www.limitlesscycle.com/login. Your free ride will be added to your account within a few days of set up.

Thank you for your understanding during this complicated time.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a non-communicable, fatal disease that involves the death of neurons.

In September of 2016, Corey began to slur some of his speech. It was a strange phenomenon for someone as articulate and chatty as Corey. It worried him and his wife Stacey, but what it could be did not seem to be too pressing and who cares if sometimes people asked you to repeat yourself. His busy carpentry career and having his two young boys in hockey & soccer kept him from focusing on the continued problem. However, after much insistence from his wife he finally went to the doctor to find out what was causing this annoying problem. To everyone’s shock he was diagnosed with ALS at 44 years of age. And was given 2-5 years to live. He was given no understanding for a cause and no hope for a cure.

Over the course of two years, ALS robbed Corey of his ability to speak, eat and of all mobility. The only thing that was still perfectly functioning was his mind and he used every ounce of strength he had left to be present and to show love to his adored boys Cohen and Theo and his wife Stacey. Late last year, ALS also took his ability to breathe and Corey passed away in August 2019 at the age of 47.

No one should have to look to their loved ones and not be able to hug them or tell them they love them. No one should have to live without hope for a better day. Please help us fight back against this terrible disease. Please help us find some hope so that there is a future where no child has to grow up having lost a parent to ALS.
